Team building + travel: What a fun company culture does for our business

There’s a certain level of bonding that can only really be achieved when you travel and experience new things together. For a small business (that produces huge results for our client) we rely on our highly skilled people and the efficiency of our team, to drive our success.

Notitia's 2023 Company Offsite | Tasmania

Last week our whole team travelled to Tasmania for a 3-day company offsite. Team building, group activities, company updates, and yes…a great excuse for a holiday in an amazing setting.

There’s a certain level of bonding that can only really be achieved when you travel and experience new things together. For a small business (that produces huge results for our client) we rely on our highly skilled people and the efficiency of our team, to drive our success.

This means that we:

> Value our people, a lot.

> Give back to our people and trust them to be “in charge” of what they do.

> Work really hard, while respecting home life balance, recognising when it’s time to “down tools” and celebrate wins.

> Make space to understand each other and how we can continuously work better together.

Here’s why our company offsite is a huge return in investment and the reasons why it produces better results for our clients.

#1 We are one team. And we work continuously to keep it that way.

We’ve handpicked our people for their different strengths and ways of thinking. In fact, this is one of our core values.

We don’t all have the same approach and style of working, we consciously learn about how we can better understand ourselves and each other.

We’ve also doubled in size in less than a year. Investing in “team development” means that, as we grow, we will continue to work *really* well together.

Why? Because, “teamwork makes the dream work”.

It also means that our clients love us because we’re no fuss, we communicate effectively and our focus is on getting things done.

#2 Our people live and work across Australia.

Many of us are experts in different fields and work from different locations.

We’re data and digital strategy, data analysts, project managers, web developers, UI UX designers. We have offices in Melbourne and Adelaide and some of our people work remotely from Perth and Tasmania.

An offsite ensures that all our people have the time to connect, even those who don’t usually work together. And it gives them the opportunity to come together in a new space.

#3 Team building + self-understanding, on steroids

Team building: it’s about understanding ourselves as well as others.

When you travel with your colleagues, it is an experience that forges a unique bond as a team, while creating endless micro opportunities to learn about ourselves and each other.

Throw in a whole-day workshopping our DiSC profiles. And now, you’ve achieved a whole years’ worth of therapy bills in just three days.

#4 We’re an authentic bunch and thrive on being constructively honest

Can’t think of a better time to ask for some relaxed feedback or have that conversation.

It’s also a space where we can individually reflect on how we contribute to our shared goals and targets.

An offsite trip allowed us to exchange ideas and show appreciation. It’s a chance to gain greater insights into the role we each play and how we can improve what we do, on a day-to-day or goal-by-goal basis.

#5 We deliver results and invest in our people

We’re a company that is founded on delivering results.

We work alongside the best-of-the-best, with the passion and drive to succeed. Our culture is one where we’re valued for what we do.

Our people are our business - what we invest in them, we get back and much more.
